how far would you go to protect someone you love?
Haven is a game that sets to answer that question. created by The Game Bakers, it follows a couple named Yu and Kay fleeing their home planets to start a life together. this isn't my first rodeo with TGB's work, as I have also reviewed Furi's soundtrack, singing its praises quite a bit. if you haven't read that review, i not-so-humbly link to it here: ... read more
it's a Cannibal Corpse album. you heard one of them, you've heard them all - especially in the Corpsegrinder era. speaking of who, he's so much better than Chris Barnes that it's almost funny. but yeah, this is one of their weaker works from what i've heard. this band's albums should be 30 minutes tops tbh
i've been waiting for Half Me to drop new material for so long that i stopped being a metalcore fan over these two years. and in that sense i am very underwhelmed with this new single as it is a significant step down from their last EP. no riffs, just chugging, with breakdowns that don't hit at all. also the new aesthetic is weird and doesn't suit them at all
some nice ripping war metal here. a bit repetitive and one-note but still decent shit, and it's trans fronted so thats cool
Why are the track ratings on this so low? I don't like this album a lot either but most OSDM records have their fans (this is at a 77/100 as well), so that's odd. anyway, Dark Recollections is a standard death metal album that's certainly of its time. i wish there was another band that made something I enjoyed as much as De Profundis by Vader or Dawn of Possession by Immolation
the dude behind this band told me "our music is ass". well uh, he wasn't far off i guess. it is pretty boring slam with a snare that gets annoying over prolonged periods of time and a pretty shitty vocal performance. but hey their vocalist is a transphobe and got fired for that reason. so hopefully this band makes better shit soon
